Gerund Stems
Gerund stems apply to all forms that begin with an unstressed i (which includes the Gerund), as well as the present subjunctive nosotros and vosotros forms. They often share the same stem vowel change as a verb's Boot stem.
They are weak stems that may be overridden by strong Preterite, Preterite-J, or Subjunctive stems. In bendecir, decir, and venir, the Gerund stem is only used in the gerund itself.
